Martin Garrix doesn't forget his roots on garrixers.com

He may be the most famous former student of his college, but Martin Garrix doesn't forget his roots. He decided to support the cultural education for all children in Amstelland.

Various organizations from the Amstelland region joined forces on May 22 in Amstelveen, Netherlands, to launch a cultural education covenant for all children in Amstelland. Parties involved in education and the cultural sector within the Amstelland region did this by signing the Amstelland Cultural Covenant. The covenant outlines six pillars that are to be collectively achieved by 2028.

Initiated by Platform C, the cultural education covenant was developed with the collaboration of educational institutions, cultural organizations, amateur associations, and municipalities to benefit cultural education in the Amstelland region. The covenant includes six pillars focusing on both in-school and extracurricular cultural education for primary and secondary education. One of the pillars is to provide children and young people with experiences in art and culture, with equal opportunity being another key focus. Successful implementation by 2028 will require cooperation from all parties and the necessary resources for teachers to confidently deliver cultural education lessons.

Students from the Wind Ensemble Class at De Cirkel elementary school are already well-acquainted with such artistic experiences. They practice weekly and had the opportunity to perform in front of a full house. Similarly, at De Horizon elementary school, cultural education is introduced early on with dance lessons for kindergarteners, a showcase of which was presented in an impressive video.

Aldermen Victor Frequin (Ouder-Amstel), José de Robles (Uithoorn), and Frank Berkhout (Amstelveen) were the first to sign the covenant. They were followed by members of school boards and directors from educational, cultural, and amateur arts institutions.

Finally, Jantien Westerveld, director of the Méér Muziek in de Klas Foundation, took the stage. After signing the covenant, she announced a small surprise. Martijn Garritsen, better known as DJ Martin Garrix and a former student of Keizer Karel College, wants to make a financial contribution to help achieve the goals outlined in the covenant, serving as an inspiration for many young people to engage with music.

Martin Garrix is involved in many organizations to share his love, power and help others. He's an active member of War Child and SOS Children's villages for many years. He also help people in music industry within his own label, STMPD RCRDS and he hosts the Martin Garrix x JBL Academy, where young musicians from all over the World can learn the different aspects of music industry such as communication, marketing and much more.
