Ushuaïa 2022 closing night

Last night in Ibiza, Martin Garrix performed in Ushuaïa for the last time this summer. Team Garrixers was there, here is our review.

Thursday, September 8, 2022, 5.00 pm., Josh Charm starts to play on the Ushuaïa stage, in Ibiza. Tonight is the closing of Martin Garrix’s residency, who played here all summer. It's sunny, it's hot, and everyone is already full of energy. After Josh, whose first (and perfect) performance in Ushuaïa, the other artists follow: Silque, Blinders, TV Noise, DJ Charlesy and Tinie Tempah.

At 9.00 pm., that's it, the musical and luminous teasing begins, followed by the first notes of "Won't let you Go" (intro edit), Martin Garrix enters the stage and as usual will set the mood of madness in front of an enraged public. He plays his latest mashups including “Pizza vs. Kidsos”, “Make up your mind vs. Glitch” or “Limitless vs. Scared to be lonely and Summertime Sadness”, pure Garrix, pure happiness. Of course as always, some new IDs are part of the show, among them one by Vluar, another by Matisse & Sadko. And the great classics “Animals”, “Like I Do”, “Tremor”, “Forever”, “Together”, etc.

A surprise for us this evening, Fisher takes the stage, alongside Martin for a few tracks including his single “Losing it”. Martin tells us how happy he is to be there, for his last performance of the summer at Ushuaïa, and very quickly, it is already 11.00 pm, time to end the set, under a rain of confetti, with “Starlight”… Barely out of stage, and having a hug with Yann Pisserem (the owner of the club), Martin decides to come back for a tribute to Avicii, who would have celebrated his 33rd birthday today, playing his title Levels. Magical.

This time, it's really over, the producer hugs members of the technical team, and takes time to exchange a few words and take selfies with his fans, behind the stage. Always so friendly and accessible despite its incredible success.

It was in 2014 that Martin Garrix played at Ushuaïa for the first time. He was the opening act for David Guetta. The following year, he presented his first residency: “Multiply” which he played every Friday.

Since then, Martin has remained faithful to Ushuaia, with a residency every summer (except in 2020-2021 due to Covid-19). In 2017, he even had two residences in Ibiza, the first still at Ushuaïa, and the second at the club on the opposite side of the street (same owners): The Hi nightclub, which had just succeeded the Space club.

This afternoon, Martin flies to Sweden, for a performance at the Bonfire Festival, then tomorrow Saturday, he will go to Milan, for the last date of his “Sentio” summer tour in Europe. Later in September, he will travel to the USA and Asia for other shows.
